In fact, the first Italian version of the Bible was printed in 1471 by a Camaldolense monk: <strong>Nicol\u00f2 Malermi.<\/strong> In the first decades of the fifteenth century, the translation of <strong>Antonio Brucioli,<\/strong> the first layman to have ventured into this undertaking, was also a success. For the types of Lucantonio Giunti, the humanist first published a translation of the Gospels: it immediately spread, thanks to the small size that allowed to market the work in pocket formats, and therefore much more manageable than the cumbersome Bible in-folio of Malermi.
