{"id":12766,"date":"2022-03-23T01:27:20","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T01:27:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sobicain.org\/?post_type=contenido&#038;p=12766"},"modified":"2022-03-26T21:12:09","modified_gmt":"2022-03-26T21:12:09","slug":"24-horas-para-el-senor-un-tiempo-de-conversion","status":"publish","type":"contenido","link":"https:\/\/biblewebapp.sobicain.org\/en\/contenido\/24-horas-para-el-senor-un-tiempo-de-conversion\/","title":{"rendered":"24-hour Initiative for the Lord: Reflection on the Call for Conversion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Upon the suggestion of Pope Francis, t<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will hold a <strong>2<\/strong><\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>4-hour<\/strong> initiative for the Lord<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0that will be celebrated this year between\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">25<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">26 March<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. What is meant by &#8220;conversion&#8221;? The Old Testament translation of the word &#8220;conversion&#8221; comes from the Hebrew word\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shub\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">which could<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">mean &#8220;turning, returning, going back&#8221;. In the religious sphere, it indicates turning away from evil, returning to God, and the faithful observance of the Mosaic law. In the New Testament, the two main Greek terms related to this concept are<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (epi-) str\u00e9pho<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(a synonym of the Hebrew<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Shub<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">) and\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">metano\u00e9o<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. It is above all this last term that starting from its etymology (<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">meta<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0+\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">nous<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> = &#8220;to change the mind&#8221;) conveys a particular concept: in fact, it indicates in the first place not a moral aspect, but a renewal of mentality, a change of belief and way of thinking and seeing things (cf. Mk 1:15). Depending on the context, it can also mean &#8220;repenting, feeling remorse, doing penance&#8221; regarding the moral field (cf. Mt 11:21). Reflecting on this important biblical theme, we suggest the vision of this beautiful catechesis of Fr Fulvio Rossi, pastor of the pastoral community of Lainate-Pagliera-Barbaiana. We let ourselves be guided by the paintings made by Caravaggio in the Contarelli Chapel in Rome (Church of San Luigi dei Francesi).
